We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team and take responsibility for the financial management and reporting of our dealership operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly and annual management accounts within agreed deadlines.
- Submit financial reports to manufacturers and other stakeholders where required.
- Monitor business performance and highlight significant variances in income, expenditure, profitability, and cash flow.
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with current legislation and company policies.
- Maintain strong financial controls and processes to safeguard company assets.
Accounts & Cash Management
- Manage purchase and sales ledger activities.
- Ensure timely payment of suppliers, VAT, payroll, taxes, and other liabilities.
- Monitor and control debtor balances, ensuring credit is only extended to authorised low-risk customers.
- Review outstanding debts and inter-company balances on a regular basis.
- Manage company cash flow requirements and report any anticipated deviations from agreed plans.
Payroll & Compliance
- Maintain accurate payroll records and support payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, VAT requirements, and financial reporting standards.
- Adhere to GDPR requirements relating to the handling of customer and employee data.
- Ensure all financial activities operate within legal and regulatory guidelines.
Team Leadership
- Lead, support, and develop the Accounts Administration Team.
- Recruit, train, and mentor staff as required.
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular reviews.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels to support business operations.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, accounting standards, and business requirements.
- Work collaboratively with departmental managers to support business performance and growth.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience in a management accounting or dealership accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, VAT, and payroll.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- High levels of integrity, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Automotive industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
