Job Summary
To work within a team of radiographic and clerical staff within the Trust.
To provide a high standard of expertise and care, and lead areas of the department in the absence of the Modality Superintendent.
To provide an efficient diagnostic imaging service I that is patient focused in and out of normal working hours.

Key responsibilities
Each Band 7 post will be assigned a key responsibility within the department to facilitate effective work practices; these can include but are not limited to responsibility for QA, PACS system support, equipment maintenance / monitoring and key operator allocation for equipment.

Clinical Practice
- Maintain a high radiographic standard and advise junior staff as and when required.
- Maintain a high standard of patient care.
- Maintain a high standard of equipment care.
- Participate in general radiography, DEXA and specialist areas including CT, MRI after suitable training.
- Report any problems/concerns to the appropriate Supt. Radiographer.
- Cannulating and administering of I.V. contrast media after recognised training.
- Medico-legal radiography and paperwork for non-accidental injury cases.
- Participate in the 7-day shift pattern as required.
Management of Resources/Equipment
- Participate in all aspects of quality assurance programme within the Imaging department.
- When notified of equipment faults/incidents these must be reported to the maintenance provider and the appropriate lead radiographer must be
informed.
- Replenishing of low levels of stock must be communicated to the appropriate lead radiographer.
Professional Responsibility
- Be aware of clinical governance issues.
- To observe the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (2000).
- To report any radiation incidents and making appropriate records.
- To ensure that all Hospital Safety Policies, Procedures and fire - regulations are observed.
- Participate in audit both clinical and non-clinical.
- Carry out any other duties which may be delegated by the Imaging Manager or the deputy or in their absence a lead radiographer.
- Undertake appraisals and line management duties after suitable training.
Education
- Maintain own CPD folder.
- To be responsible for own personal and professional development which is planned and communicated with Superintendent radiographer.
- Keep abreast of current trends by reading radiography journals and attending courses.
- Assist more junior members of staff with radiographic technique.
- Help in student training, assessment and mentoring.
- Pursue post-graduation education.
Specialist clinician/ Team Lead
- Keep up to date with developments in line with the latest research relating to area of practice.
- Able to create and promote a supportive learning environment that embraces a culture of evidence and research-based practice.
- Use evidence with support to underpin clinical guidelines and integrate
research into clinical practice to improve clinical decision making and enhance patient outcomes.
- Undertake service evaluation and clinical research delivery by undertaking surveys or audits as necessary and present as appropriate.
- Promote the service and clinical excellence by publishing and presenting
innovations, audit and research locally and nationally (as appropriate).
- Actively participate in Clinical Governance within the division/Trust.
- Undertake R&D activity and maintains research data collection systems in compliance with appropriate data governance (as appropriate to role)
