Michelmersh Brick Holdings are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team at our Romsey (Hampshire) plant as an Electrician.
The successful applicant will be working in our Maintenance department, supporting the Maintenance Manager in the general maintenance and repair of all plant systems and equipment. As well as continuous improvement of all factory areas such as Health & Safety, production output, efficiency, productivity, and environmental impacts. The role itself involves
the completion of all day and afternoon maintenance activities, stores stock accountability, carrying out PPM’s, workshop and stores housekeeping, ensuring downtime is minimized and company standards are complied with.
An awareness of health and safety must be demonstrated in the workplace at all times.
The key job duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager whilst being integrated into a team of fully skilled engineers.
- Report to breakdowns and rectify Electrical failures as a priority to ensure plant uptime is kept at a premium.
- Assist in the analysis of breakdowns to establish route causes and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Contributing towards the PPM system ensuring proactive checks being completed as per schedule.
- Overhauling, Manufacturing, repairing, and refurbishing of parts and equipment in the onsite maintenance workshop outside of breakdowns & PPMs.
- Fulfil parts requisitions on the completion of work to ensure stock levels are retained, hence minimizing downtime.
- Assist with ongoing project work e.g., new equipment installation/ factory improvements.
- Liaise with fellow colleagues on different shift patterns to hand over work and report any issues.
- Undertake any reasonable requests for training, either internally or externally, in order to improve performance and capabilities.
- Maintain high levels of compliance with health and safety standards whilst performing duties.
- Follow the company Lock Off Tag Out Try Out procedure at all times.
- Complete all day shift work instructions and fill in report book accordingly.
- Assist with the compiling of Risk Assessments & SPTW and adhere to all active procedures.
- Monitor & supply electrical support of machine set-up & changeovers to ensure that products conform to quality assurance standards, whilst ensuring changeovers are as efficient as possible.
- Provide Maintenance shift cover when required.
- Carry company radio at all times to ensure quick response to breakdowns.
- Undertake any reasonable request made during working hours.
To be successful in the role, the right candidate must satisfy the following requirements:
- Formal electrical qualification(s) (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds (18th Edition & Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391), BTEC, degree or similar).
- 3+ years’ experience working in an electrical position required for this role.
- Experience servicing/repairing components.
- Experience working with 3 phase electrical equipment including motor’s & starter’s.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings for electrical panels and circuits.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be an advantage to the successful applicant.

Salary up to £46000 per year dependent on experience, with additional monthly production bonus paid dependent on production targets being met. Overtime paid at enhanced rates.

Other information applicable to the role
Shift work on weekly changeover 06:00 -14:00 and 14:00 – 22:00 Monday – Friday
Holidays are not fixed. Maintenance personnel (in agreement with their supervisor) may take holidays outside of the fixed holiday period throughout the holiday year.
