Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Tarmac Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and laying of tarmac surfaces, ensuring high standards of safety and quality are maintained throughout all operations. Duties
- Assisting with the preparation of surfaces prior to tarmac laying, including site clearance and setting out
- Operating machinery and equipment related to tarmacking, subject to training and competency
- Managing the distribution and spreading of tarmac material across designated areas
- Conducting routine maintenance checks on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assisting with site management tasks, including organising materials and coordinating with other team members
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment at all times
Experience
- Prior experience in construction, civil engineering, or roadworks is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of site management or maintenance tasks is advantageous
- Valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation between sites
- Strong communication skills are essential for effective teamwork and site safety management
- Management experience is beneficial for those interested in progressing into supervisory roles
