Browns Food Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Health & Safety Manager to join our Senior Management Team. This is a critical role where you won't just be "checking boxes", you will be the lead competent person driving a culture of safety across our Prestwick (Halls of Scotland) operations.
Reporting directly to the Group Head of Health, Safety & Risk, you will have the autonomy to implement and evolve our H&S Management Systems, ensuring that legal compliance is balanced with practical, operational excellence.
The Impact You Will Make
- Expert Leadership: Act as the lead site expert for all H&S matters, providing professional advice to the Senior Management Team.
- Systems Management: Maintain and continuously improve H&S management systems (aligned with ISO 45001 standards).
- Compliance Oversight: Manage statutory inspection programmes, including PUWER, LOLER, and Pressure Systems.
- Investigation & Analysis: Lead incident investigations to identify true root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise directly with the HSE, insurers, solicitors, and external auditors, managing the site's reputation and legal standing.
- KPI Delivery: Produce high-level monthly reporting for the Group, tracking performance and identifying trends.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified: NEBOSH Diploma or a degree in Health & Safety (or equivalent professional experience).
- Accredited: IOSH membership (minimum CertIOSH or working towards).
- Experienced: Proven track record in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK H&S legislation, risk assessment methodology, and audit processes.
- Communication: Confident in delivering everything from Board-level KPI reports to factory-floor Toolbox Talks.
- Mobile: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for travel when required
