We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Tutor to join our supportive and inclusive college team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people aged 16–25 with a range of additional learning needs, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As an SEN Tutor, you will plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred sessions that meet the individual needs of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working closely with curriculum staff, learning support assistants, parents/carers and external professionals, you will create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every learner can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons.
- Assess learners' progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop individual learning plans and set achievable targets.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a variety of learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to support student achievement.
- Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to progress reviews.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Experience working with learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to motivate, inspire and build positive relationships with young people.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusive practice and learner support strategies.
