Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in horticulture and landscape maintenance, with experience in cultivating and caring for a variety of plants and outdoor spaces. This role offers an opportunity to work outdoors, contributing to the beauty and health of gardens and green areas. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and health of our clients’ gardens, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Planting, watering, pruning, and fertilising plants to promote healthy growth
- Using hand tools such as shears, spades, and rakes for garden maintenance
- Operating power tools including lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers safely and efficiently
- Installing and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants
- Conducting landscape maintenance tasks such as lawn mowing, edging, and mulching
- Monitoring plant health and identifying pests or diseases for appropriate action
- Assisting with seasonal planting schemes and garden redesigns
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained in good working order and stored securely after use
- Adhering to health and safety regulations at all times during outdoor work
Skills
- Proven experience in gardening or horticulture, with a strong understanding of plant care and landscape maintenance
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems effectively
- Knowledge of growing techniques suitable for various plant species
- Ability to identify common pests and plant diseases with appropriate treatment methods
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure high-quality garden presentation
- Physical fitness to perform outdoor tasks over extended periods, including lifting and bending
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills within horticulture and landscape design
