Salary: £46,771 plus benefits
- Contract: Permanent
- Working Hours: 1 week on/1 week off or 2 weeks on/2 weeks off – depending on the vessel you are allocated to
At CalMac, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for a customer-focused and safety-conscious Seaman Purser to join our Small Ferries Pool, playing a key role in delivering reliable lifeline ferry services to communities across Scotland's west coast.
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You'll support the Skipper in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, assist passengers throughout their journey, and help maintain the high standards of service that our customers rely on.
What You'll Be Doing
As Seaman Purser, you'll contribute to the smooth running of vessel operations by:

Assisting with mooring operations, rope handling and deck machinery
- Supporting vehicle loading, unloading and vehicle deck operations
- Monitoring passenger numbers to ensure compliance with vessel passenger limits
- Issuing tickets and collecting fares using handheld ticketing equipment
- Handling and depositing revenue in line with company procedures
- Carrying out planned maintenance tasks as directed by the Skipper
- Participating in emergency drills and responding to emergency situations as required
- Assisting passengers on board, including providing support to those with reduced mobility
- Undertaking bridge watchkeeping duties and vehicle deck inspections during sailings
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Certification
You must hold:

Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate (unrestricted)
- STCW 2010 Basic Safety Training, including:
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
- Personal Survival Techniques
- Elementary First Aid
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities
Additional Training
Successful applicants will be required to complete role-specific CalMac certification before joining a vessel. While not essential to apply, the following would be advantageous:

STCW Crowd Management
- Efficient Deck Hand Certificate
