Role purpose
The Head Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness, presentation and overall standards of the
hotel — from guest rooms to public areas. This is a senior, hands-on role: you'll lead and work
alongside the housekeeping team, manage stock and laundry, and act as the eyes and ears of the hotel
for anything maintenance, hygiene or guest-comfort related. You'll work closely with reception,
maintenance and the General Manager to make sure every guest walks into a room that's ready, clean
and welcoming.
Key responsibilities
Team leadership
- Lead, train, motivate and supervise the housekeeping team day to day
- Allocate daily room and area assignments based on occupancy and arrivals
- Set clear standards, give regular feedback and address performance issues early
- Induct and train new starters on cleaning standards, products and procedures
- Plan and manage the housekeeping rota, holiday cover and sickness cover
Cleaning standards & guest rooms
- Clean and service guest rooms personally to the hotel's standard, particularly at peak times
- Carry out daily room checks before guest arrival and sign off rooms as ready
- Ensure all bedding, towels, bathrooms and amenities are presented consistently
- Deep-clean rooms on a planned rotation, not only on turnover
- Identify and report maintenance issues — and follow them through to resolutio
Pay: £13.50 per hour
