About the role
As a Casual Venue Assistant at Cornerstone, Didcot, you will be part of the front-of-house team delivering excellent customer service across both the arts centre and its café/bar. You will support the Duty Manager with the day-to-day running of events, deliver fast and accurate ticketing/information services, provide efficient food and beverage service, and uphold health, safety, and licensing requirements at all times.
Essential criteria for the role
- Minimum of five GCSEs including Maths and English, or equivalent experience
- Frontline customer service experience in a busy, public-facing environment
- Confident computer skills and ability to work at pace using ticketing/EPOS systems
- Clear, friendly and confident communication skills
Please note this role includes evenings, weekends, and variable shift patterns.
Key responsibilities for the role
- Deliver excellent customer service by providing a welcoming, professional front-of-house experience and offering information and support to visitors and customers.
- Support venue and event operations by assisting with admissions, room setups, interval services, merchandise sales, and ensuring events run smoothly.
- Operate box office and cash handling systems including ticket sales, memberships, payment processing, float management, cash reconciliation, and CRM/ticketing system administration.
- Provide café and bar services by preparing and serving food and drinks, restocking supplies, supporting kitchen tasks, and maintaining high food hygiene and licensing standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean and compliant environment by following health and safety procedures, supporting emergency responses, keeping public areas presentable, reporting defects, and ensuring accessibility and security standards are met.
