Locum Dentist – Penrhyndeudraeth
£450–£500+ per day | Flexible 2–5 days per week | Enhanced rates available
I am looking for a Locum Dentist to join an established dental practice in Penrhyndeudraeth, North Wales, with the opportunity to start as soon as possible.
This is an ongoing locum opportunity with considerable flexibility around days and availability. The practice are particularly keen to hear from dentists who would enjoy working in a more rural North Wales location.
Enhanced rates may be available depending on experience, availability and commitment.
The role
- Location: Penrhyndeudraeth, North Wales
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Duration: Ongoing locum – no fixed end date
- Days: 2–5 days per week
- Hours: Generally 9:00am–5:00pm
- Rate: £450–£500 per day, with enhanced rates potentially available
- Payment: Monthly
- Notice period: Flexible – 1–2 weeks either way
Welsh NHS dentistry – without UDA-style targets
The practice operates under a Welsh NHS contract, with activity based around the Welsh contract model and care packages rather than traditional UDA-style targets.
For a locum working on a fixed day rate, they would simply expect a reasonable level of activity for a normal clinical day, while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
There may also be opportunities for private dentistry, depending on the individual and the practice.
Their usual associate arrangement for private work is 45%, with laboratory fees shared at the same ratio.

The practice provides a mixture of NHS and private dentistry, with a friendly and established team.
It is fully computerised and digitally equipped, with access to:
- Digital radiography
- Intraoral scanners
- OPG
- Intraoral cameras
- Good clinical facilities
- Established links with dental laboratories
The practice is situated in a beautiful part of North Wales, making this an attractive opportunity for someone who enjoys a more rural setting.
A supportive team
The group, in which this practice is part of, believe locum dentistry should be about more than simply filling a diary.
You'll be joining a multidisciplinary team of dentists, therapists, hygienists and nurses, with clinical leadership and mentoring available where required.
They are also developing a Dental Academy in Flint, which will provide training and CPD opportunities for the wider team.
Their aim is to find dentists who will integrate well into the practice and become a valued part of the team. If the arrangement works well, they would also be open to discussing longer-term or permanent opportunities.
