About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will support the day-to-day operation of the Quality Assurance function across our production facility. Working closely with the Production and Technical teams, you will help ensure our products are manufactured safely, legally, authentically, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on role, with the majority of your time spent on the factory floor carrying out audits, inspections, verification activities, and supporting production teams, while also maintaining accurate electronic quality records and technical documentation. You will play an important role in maintaining our BRCGS Food Safety certification and driving a positive food safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine quality and food safety checks throughout production.
- Check production line start-up, in-process, and finished product inspections.
- Monitor Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), hygiene, housekeeping, and fabrication standards across the site.
- Conduct environmental monitoring, product sampling, and verification of testing programmes.
- Complete equipment calibration checks and maintain accurate calibration records.
- Verify compliance with HACCP, BRCGS Food Safety Standard, customer requirements, and internal quality management systems.
- Maintain accurate quality records, technical documentation, and electronic quality management systems.
- Investigate quality issues and non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support the management of non-conforming products, ensuring appropriate segregation and documentation.
- Assist with internal audits, traceability exercises, mock recalls, and verification of corrective actions.
- Support allergen management, product label verification, raw material inspections, and supplier compliance activities.
- Monitor temperature controls and critical process checks throughout production.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to promote food safety culture and quality best practice.
- Support customer, certification, and regulatory audits as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain the site's Quality Management System.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing, food production, or FMCG environment.
- Internal GFSI Auditor qualification.
- A genuine passion for food safety, product quality, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage colleagues at all levels.
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, positive, and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- A good understanding of HACCP principles, GMP requirements, and food safety legislation.
- Experience working within a BRCGS-certified manufacturing environment.
- HACCP Level 2 or Level 3 and Food Safety qualifications.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic quality management systems.
