September start - We are looking for a fun & enthusiastic Art Teacher to manage a Sunday morning Arts & Crafts school in Hemel Hempstead. The job pays £60 for 2.5 hrs - 8.50pm - 11.20pm including set up & clear down. Classes take place in three 12 week blocks throughout the year, following the school terms - other work may be available during half- terms.
Our Weekend Arts & Crafts school teaches children between the ages of 4-16 years old. Children are separated according to their age group and work on various Arts & Crafts projects each week. Every 12 weeks the children will curate an exhibition for their friends and families.
The successful candidate will already have a current enhanced DBS certificate. Up -to-date Paediatric First Aid training & Child Safeguarding qualifications are also required. We are happy to provide these courses, but the candidate must be able to successfully complete them prior to starting. An artistic background is imperative, however it is not essential that you have experience in all art forms. We offer support and training to ensure you feel comfortable with the material.
The successful candidate must be out-going, have the ability to kindly yet confidently manage a class room, be energetic and have a passion for working with children!
All materials and support equipment is provided. Lesson plans are discussed with the business owner prior to the start of term and are devised together. Ideally the candidate is able to follow a basic lesson structure, whilst providing their own ideas and experience!
The main duties are:
- Setting up the space for the class and clearing any mess at the end.
- Delivering the lesson plan & being flexible with the needs and desires of the class.
- Ensuring the lesson is both fun and imaginative!
- Managing the safety of the children - register checks, supporting any children with learning difficulties, ensuring a safe sign out etc.
- Kindly manage class assistants to ensure that all working adults are providing a high quality lesson to all children in attendance
