We’re looking for a Cafe Manager to join our friendly, family-run café. Working as part of a small close-knit team, this is a hands-on role — so you’ll need to be proactive, well-organised, and motivated, and comfortable keeping things running smoothly even when it gets busy. Previous cooking experience and knowledge of food safety is desireable. You’ll need to be available to work weekdays as well as some weekends.
What you’ll be doing
- Creating staff rotas
- Balancing the tills and preparing floats
- Leading and supporting our small front-of-house team
- Taking payments and processing sales
- Taking orders and serving food to customers
- Delivering great service and keeping our customer standards high
- Making sure the team works efficiently and cooperatively
- Ordering supplies, managing stock levels, and keeping good stock records
- Following proper procedures for food handling, storage, and preparation
- Staying up to date with all food safety rules and regulations
- Making sure the café front and kitchen are kept clean and tidy every day, following our cleaning schedules
- Monitoring and reducing food and product waste
- Working closely with everyone in the team
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience managing or supervising a front-of-house team
- Great communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Some experience in food preparation or cooking is a bonus, but not essential
- A good understanding of food hygiene practices
- Reliable, professional, and able to stay calm during busy periods
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is preferred
- Flexible availability to work alternate weekends or one day each weekend
