Biddenden Vineyards is a family owned and run business in the Heart of the Garden of England, established in 1969, we are Kent’s original vineyard, working at the heart of the county, producing wines, ciders and juices.
We are seeking a motivated and practical Production Supervisorto join our production team. This is a hands-on role offering opportunities to develop specialist technical skills and gain experience with our wine, cider and juice production equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead and work with all members of the winery team to ensure smooth operation of the winery and a positive work environment.
- Carry out all winery production operations accurately and in a timely fashion. These production activities will include working with both product in tank and bottled stock.
- Able to independently set up and operate bottling line, cross flow filter and heat exchanger in keeping with quality and hygiene standards.
- Extras hours and complete flexibility over working days is required at crucial times of the year, especially Harvest.
- To maintain a safe, clean and tidy work environment at all times and act as a role model in that regard for production staff.
- To show initiative with production records, documenting accurately.
- To undertake any training as required.
- Able to learn and speak passionately about all production at Biddenden
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the role and any other reasonable management request.
Production
· Monitor production control and operational efficiency to achieve production targets.
- Ensure reliable high quality and accuracy of finished product, and production data.
- Ensure appropriate material and supplies are stocked to fulfil production requirements.
- Ensure the semi-finished and finished products are inspected and stored accurately
Supervisor
- Help plan work schedules effectively to ensure efficient production
- Completing logs, quality records, or basic performance reporting
- Overseeing quality checks and ensuring team compliance with quality standards
- Training junior colleagues and temporary members of staff on tasks within the production area.
Experience required:
- Previous experience in a hands-on production, winery, brewing, or within the food industry.
- Experience supervising, coordinating or leading a small operational team.
- Strong working knowledge of quality, hygiene, health & safety and GMP-style production standards.
- Experience operating or overseeing production machinery, bottling, filtration, pasteurisation or similar process equipment. Alternatively, someone mechanically minded would suit this role.
- Confident troubleshooting operational issues and making decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
- Comfortable working independently and in a supervisory role.
- Forklift operation is an essential part of this role.
