The Boatyard is an independent brunch café a stone’s throw from Cullercoats Bay. We’re looking for a motivated chef to join our team.
About Us
Since opening in 2015 we’ve forged a reputation as a go-to brunch spot. From a banging full-English, to colourful vegan offerings, our food has seen us pick up rave reviews and repeat customers. We source ingredients locally when possible, and change our menu seasonally.
We’re a forward-thinking business with a community focus. Our most valuable asset is our crew, and we do our best to maintain the wellbeing of our staff
We’re open 8am-5pm daily (kitchen closes 4pm). On busy days we hit over 150 covers
About You:
- Keen interest in local restaurant scene & food trends
- Desire to make every plate you send out delicious & attractive
- Positive attitude & sense of humour
- Previous kitchen experience essential
- Eye for detail, continually high expectations of yourself and others
- Flexible, organized and a great communicator
- Self-motivated & relish a challenge
- Committed to maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality
The Job:
- Report to Head Chef & Manager
- Assist with ordering, paperwork, and following food hygiene standards to maintain our 5-star status
- Kitchen cleaning & some washing dishes
- Help come up with ideas to evolve the menu & develop monthly specials
- Bake scones, cakes
Job Details:
- We're looking for a full-timer to commit to 5 shifts per week, including some weekend work
- This works out 35-40 hours, with potential to pick up more shifts to cover holiday etc
- Daytime shifts, as café closes at 5pm (we very occasionally open evenings)
- Free meal & coffee on shift
- Share of tips (usually over £1.50/hour)
- Staff discount & parties
- Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day
