Job Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineer with experience in food machinery or chemical processing to optimise production processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The role involves designing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Design Process P&ID’s including all instrumentation requirements
· A good understanding of manufacturing in Food & Pharma
· A good understanding of Steam, Water & Air utilities
· Analyse process performance and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs
· Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery and equipment
· Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical solutions to maintain production uptime
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, ATEX where applicable)
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality, and R&D
· Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and technical reports
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies)
· Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe operation of plant and equipment
· Support scale-up activities from pilot to full production
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
· 2–5+ years’ experience in a process engineering role within food manufacturing, food machinery, or chemical processing industries
· Strong understanding of process design, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass balance principles
· Experience with industrial equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, mixers, conveyors, or reactors
· Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, COSHH)
· Proficiency in process analysis tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, or similar)
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Desirable:
· Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
· Experience with automation and control systems (PLC, SCADA)
· Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or Lean Manufacturing certification
Experience in hygienic design (for food processing environments)
