Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Carpet Fitter/Floor Layer to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing a variety of flooring materials, with a focus on carpets, ensuring each project meets high standards of quality and durability. Your expertise will help transform spaces, creating comfortable and visually appealing environments for our clients. Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare floors accurately to ensure proper fit and finish of carpets and flooring materials
- Use hand tools, power tools, and carpentry techniques to cut, shape, and install flooring according to schematics and project specifications
- Lay carpets, vinyl, laminate, or other flooring materials with precision and attention to detail
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings to execute installations correctly
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying necessary treatments such as construction painting or surface sealing
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to coordinate installation schedules and ensure safety compliance
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials responsibly
Qualifications
- Proven construction experience with a focus on flooring installation or related trades
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as knives, cutters, hammers, and measuring tapes
- Experience with power tools including drills, saws, and sanders
- Knowledge of carpentry principles and ability to read schematics or blueprints accurately
- Familiarity with construction painting techniques is a plus
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
