Student Wellbeing and Support is a multidisciplinary service dedicated to helping students thrive throughout their university journey. The department provides a broad range of specialist and preventative support services that promote wellbeing, inclusion, academic success, retention, and positive student outcomes.
Working collaboratively with academic schools, professional services, and external partners, the team supports students with a wide range of needs, including disability and neurodiversity support, mental health and wellbeing, counselling, and access to external support services. The department is committed to delivering compassionate, student-centred support, ensuring that students can access the advice, adjustments, and interventions they need to engage fully in their studies and university life.
Through a combination of direct support, partnership working, data-informed service development, and proactive wellbeing initiatives, Student Wellbeing and Support plays a key role in creating an inclusive and supportive university community where all students have the opportunity to succeed
Join our Student Wellbeing and Support team and play a key role in creating an inclusive and accessible learning experience for students with disabilities, long-term health conditions and additional support needs.
As a Success Tutor, you will provide specialist advice and support to students with complex needs, helping them access appropriate adjustments, develop effective study strategies and overcome barriers to learning. Working in partnership with academic and professional services colleagues, you will ensure students receive the support they need to engage fully with university life and achieve their potential.
You will manage a specialist caseload of students with complex disabilities, health conditions and support needs, providing expert guidance on reasonable adjustments and tailored support interventions. Acting as a key liaison for designated Schools, you will work closely with academic colleagues to ensure adjustments are practical, pedagogically appropriate and consistently implemented.
The role combines student-facing casework with collaborative work across the University to promote inclusive teaching practice, develop support resources and contribute to service enhancement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing a caseload of students with complex support and enabling needs.
- Assessing support requirements and recommending appropriate reasonable adjustments.
- Delivering targeted support to develop students' academic skills, confidence and wellbeing.
- Acting as a key liaison with academic departments to facilitate effective implementation of support arrangements.
- Supporting staff understanding of disability inclusion and inclusive practice.
- Developing resources, toolkits and 1-1 support for students with additional learning needs.
- Maintaining accurate case records, support plans and service data.
- Identifying and escalating safeguarding, wellbeing or mental health concerns as appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced and student-focused professional with a strong commitment to inclusion and student success. You will be confident supporting individuals with complex needs, capable of exercising professional judgement, and skilled at building positive relationships with students and colleagues alike.
You will have experience of supporting individuals with complex support needs within higher education, education, health, wellbeing, disability or a related setting. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and case management skills, the ability to analyse complex information and develop practical support solutions, and experience of working collaboratively across teams and services.
Knowledge of disability inclusion, reasonable adjustments and safeguarding is essential.
Desirable requirements: Experience within a higher education environment, knowledge of inclusive pedagogy, and familiarity with Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) processes and specialist support provision would be advantageous.
