The Pelican Nursery is an established and growing nursery group in Kennington, and we are excited to be expanding to a third local site. Our vision is to create three specialist settings within the local community, with dedicated environments and resources for different age groups.
Our three settings include:
- A Baby Nursery for children aged 6 months to 20 months
- A toddler nursery for children aged 20 months - 3 years
- A pre-school for children aged 3 to 4 years with a Nursery Class Teacher
With our pre-school site opening soon, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation that offers genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development.
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and qualified Level 3 Nursery Practitioners to join our team on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Full-Time Hours:
40 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern:
- 7:45am – 4:45pm
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 8:30am – 5:30pm
- 8:45am – 5:45pm
- 9:00am – 6:00pm
Part-Time Hours:
16 or 24 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern:
- 7:45am – 4:45pm
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 8:30am – 5:30pm
- 8:45am – 5:45pm
- 9:00am – 6:00pm
Alternatively, longer 8:00am – 6:00pm days may be available.
This is an all-year-round position, working 50 weeks per year.
The Role
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will:
- Provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- Enthusiastically participate in activities including singing, storytelling, messy play, outdoor learning and imaginative play
- Support children throughout their daily routines, including meal times, sleep routines, toileting and personal care
- Act as a Key Person for a group of children, monitoring and supporting their development
- Complete observations and assessments using our online learning journal system
- Plan engaging activities that support children's learning and development in line with the EYFS
- Communicate effectively with parents through daily handovers and ongoing partnership working
Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare (essential)
- At least one year's experience working within a nursery or early years setting
- Good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
- Experience planning, observing and assessing children's learning
- Excellent communication skills
- A positive, proactive and team-focused attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting young children's development

The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check (paid for by the company) and satisfactory employment references.
The nursery operates for 50 weeks of the year and closes for two weeks over the Christmas period.
