Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Contracts Manager will oversee, manage, and be accountable for construction project contracts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the agreed standards of quality. The Contracts Manager is responsible for the operational, financial, quality assurance, and commercial performance of construction projects, as well as identifying opportunities for business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
— Lead and coordinate project teams to deliver construction works effectively, ensuring all objectives are met or exceeded.
— Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development of project personnel.
— Champion high standards of safety, quality, environmental sustainability, and customer satisfaction across all construction contracts.
— Conduct regular site inspections to proactively identify and resolve issues including safety hazards, quality defects, and customer concerns.
— Oversee and coordinate both Avrenim-employed site supervisors and subcontractor supervisors, ensuring consistent adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.
Contract Delivery:
— Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of construction contracts, ensuring projects comply with agreed specifications, timelines, budgets, and safety standards.
— Maintain regular communication with senior stakeholders and clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and ongoing business opportunities.
— Address and mitigate potential contractual and project risks, ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
Financial Management:
— Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for each construction project.
— Exercise complete P&L responsibility, closely monitoring project costs, revenues, margins, and cash flow to meet or exceed financial targets.
— Prepare and review monthly performance reports, identifying and implementing improvements to financial and operational efficiency.
— Actively pursue new contract opportunities ensuring financial terms align with business objectives, particularly maintaining positive cash flow positions.
People Management:
— Foster a strong team culture that promotes employee well-being, safety, and professional excellence.
— Ensure team members are trained, qualified, and competent to meet the demands of their roles.
— Provide clear communication, feedback, and leadership to promote staff engagement and retention.
— Contribute actively to the development and implementation of succession planning within the construction operations team.
Operational Excellence:
— Coordinate effectively with functional departments to ensure adequate resources and support for construction projects.
— Ensure robust mobilisation and operational processes are in place and effectively executed for all new and existing contracts.
— Implement and monitor compliance with Avrenim's policies, standards, and legislative requirements across all managed projects.
— Ensure sustainability goals, including carbon reduction and energy management, are integrated within contract deliverables.
Business Development:
— Assist the business development team in identifying, qualifying, and securing new construction projects and contracts.
— Maintain market visibility and a competitive edge through strong client relationships and effective operational management.
Essential Qualifications:
— Relevant Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
— Valid CSCS Card.
— DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Qualifications:
— Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related discipline.
The Contracts Manager will be instrumental in delivering Avrenim’s strategic objectives, promoting continual improvement, growth, and exceptional project delivery across the construction portfolio.
Pay: £40,000.00 per year
