Q Catering | Full-Time Position
Are you an experienced warehouse operative who can lead by example, think on your feet and perform under pressure?
Q Catering is looking for a reliable, experienced and motivated Warehouse Operative to join our team.
This is more than just a picking role. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong picking and vehicle-loading experience, and naturally demonstrates leadership qualities. You will be expected to take responsibility, support colleagues and help ensure the warehouse operation runs safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
The Role
As a Warehouse Operative, you will play an important part in ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, safely and on time and that vehicles are loaded correctly and ready for dispatch.
You will be expected to:
- Accurately pick customer orders to the required standard and timescale.
- Load delivery vehicles safely, efficiently and in the correct sequence.
- Check picked orders and vehicle loads for accuracy and quality.
- Ensure products are handled correctly and safely at all times.
- Work across different areas of the warehouse when required.
- Support Team Leaders and colleagues to achieve daily operational targets.
- Take ownership of problems and look for practical solutions.
- Be proactive, identifying potential issues before they become problems.
- Be reactive, responding positively and quickly when priorities or circumstances change.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and organisation.
- Follow all company Health & Safety, food safety and warehouse procedures.
- Help maintain a positive and professional working environment.
- Lead by example and demonstrate the standards expected from others.
- Take on additional responsibility when required.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous warehouse experience, ideally within a fast-paced distribution or food environment.
- Proven experience in order picking and vehicle loading.
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A positive attitude and excellent work ethic.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Natural leadership qualities and the confidence to support and guide colleagues.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
- The ability to react quickly when priorities change.
- Good communication skills.
- A willingness to take responsibility and be accountable for your work.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and warehouse discipline.
Desirable
- Experience within a food distribution, catering or logistics environment.
- MHE/Forklift experience and a relevant licence.
- Experience loading refrigerated vehicles.
- Previous experience acting as a senior operative, deputy or team leader.
The Person
We are looking for someone who doesn't need to be asked to do the right thing.
You will be someone who sees a problem and takes action, supports colleagues when they need help and remains calm when the pressure is on.
You will be comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions within your role and challenging poor standards when necessary.
