Housing Support Officer
Location: Barrow and Penrith
Salary: £14,917.50 per annum
Job Type: Part-time, Temporary, 6 Months
Working hours: 22.5 hours per week, worked across three days. Hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, with flexibility regarding which days are worked.

About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Housing Support Officer to join our team and deliver a high-quality, person-centred service to vulnerable adults. You will support tenants to maintain safe, secure and sustainable tenancies while promoting independence, wellbeing and social inclusion.
Key Responsibilities include:
Tenant Support & Engagement
- Provide tailored, person-centred support based on individual needs, sometimes complex needs including homelessness, substance abuse, mental ill-health

Develop and review support plans, including risk assessments

Support tenants to build independent living skills

Support access to specialist and community services

Build professional relationships based on trust and respect
Housing & Tenancy Management

Manage a caseload of tenants and support tenancy sustainment

Support with rent, benefits, budgeting and preventing arrears

Respond to anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches
-
Conduct property inspections and maintain standards
-
Prevent evictions through early intervention
Safeguarding & Risk Management

Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns

Complete risk assessments and implement control measures

Maintain accurate and confidential records
-
Follow health and safety procedures
Multi-Agency Working

Work with local authorities, healthcare providers and partners

Attend meetings and advocate for tenants
Compliance & Administration

Carry out health and safety checks and inspections

Coordinate property maintenance with contractors

Maintain accurate records and reports
About You
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults or in housing/support

Knowledge of housing management or tenancy sustainment

Understanding of safeguarding and risk management

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage a caseload effectively

Good IT and record keeping skills
