About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join a growing manufacturing and engineering business within its systems assembly operation.
This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with experience in mechanical assembly, machine building or a similar engineering environment. You will be responsible for assembling and building automated machinery and engineered systems, working from detailed engineering drawings and using a range of hand and power tools.
You will be involved throughout the build process, from initial mechanical assembly and inspection through to testing, fault finding and, where required, installation and commissioning at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and build automated machinery, equipment and engineered systems.
- Work from detailed engineering drawings, specifications and assembly instructions.
- Use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly and adjustment activities.
- Complete inspections and checks throughout the build process.
- Assist with testing, fault finding and diagnostics.
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues during assembly and testing.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to complete projects on time and to specification.
- Support machinery installation and commissioning at customer sites.
- Travel extensively to customer locations across the UK and internationally.
- Work on overseas projects, potentially spending periods away from home.
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Machine Builder or in a similar engineering role.
- Strong mechanical assembly and fitting experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Confident using a range of hand and power tools.
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering and assembly processes.
- Experience carrying out mechanical inspections and identifying defects or issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake regular UK and international travel.
- Valid passport and eligibility to travel internationally.
Desirable
- Experience assembling automated machinery or special-purpose equipment.
- Experience with machine installation and commissioning.
- Experience fault finding and testing completed machinery.
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship.
- Previous experience working on international engineering projects.
Working Hours
- Monday–Friday, day shifts.
- Early finish on Fridays.
