We are seeking an experienced Retail Shop Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the store and support the continued growth of the business.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
· Manage the day-to-day operation of the convenience store.
· Lead, supervise and support a team of approximately four employees.
· Prepare staff rotas and allocate daily duties.
· Recruit, train and monitor staff performance.
· Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained at all times.
· Monitor daily sales and prepare regular business performance reports.
· Manage stock levels, inventory control and supplier relationships.
· Plan purchasing requirements and negotiate with suppliers where appropriate.
· Ensure products are correctly priced, displayed and promoted.
· Monitor stock losses and implement measures to reduce wastage.
· Manage cash handling, banking procedures and daily till reconciliation.
· Resolve customer complaints and operational issues promptly.
· Ensure compliance with alcohol licensing legislation, Challenge 25 policy, age-restricted sales regulations, Health & Safety requirements and Food Safety regulations.
· Develop and implement strategies to improve sales, profitability and customer retention.
Business Development & Digital Responsibilities
As part of supporting the future growth of the business, the successful candidate will also:
· Assist with the future development and maintenance of the company's website.
· Develop and maintain the company's Google Business Profile and local business listings.
· Help establish and enhance the business's online presence.
· Coordinate local digital marketing campaigns.
· Support local SEO activities to improve online visibility.
· Manage social media pages and promotional campaigns.
· Monitor customer reviews and recommend service improvements.
· Support the future introduction of online ordering and home delivery services as the business expands.
Essential Requirements
· Previous experience managing a retail store, convenience store or supermarket.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Experience in staff supervision, stock control and supplier management.
· Good organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to analyse sales performance and improve business profitability.
· Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
· Knowledge of UK retail compliance, including alcohol licensing and age-restricted sales procedures.
Desirable Skills
· Experience working within an independent convenience store or off-licence.
· Knowledge of EPOS systems and retail management software.
· Experience in digital marketing, website content management, local SEO and social media marketing.
· Understanding of Google Business Profile and online customer engagement.
· A degree or professional qualification in Business, Management, Marketing or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Pay: £30,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
