Customer Service & Farm Shop Assistant
Location: Mill Close Farm, Hackforth, near Bedale
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 3.15pm
About the Role
We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Service & Farm Shop Assistant to join our small, friendly team at Yorkshire Dales Meat Company. You'll be the first point of contact for our customers — whether they're calling with a question, popping into the Farm Shop, or ordering online — so a warm, professional manner and genuine care for customer experience are essential.
This is a varied role combining office admin, Farm Shop customer service, and online order fulfilment, ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of tasks and likes being part of a hands-on, family-run business.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer enquiries by phone, email, and online chat in a professional and friendly manner
- Serve customers in our Farm Shop, offering advice on our products
- Maintain shop stock levels, carry out date checks, place stock orders, and keep the shop clean and presentable
- Provide accurate information about our products and services, with excellent phone etiquette
- Assist customers with order processing, returns, and resolving any issues
- Process and pack web orders accurately and efficiently, ready for dispatch
- Carry out invoice data entry
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions in our systems
- Work closely with the wider team to resolve any complex customer queries
- Keep up to date with our product range and company policies to give customers well-informed advice
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred but not essential — we'll support the right person to learn
- Excellent phone etiquette and a positive, engaging manner with customers
- Comfortable with data entry and attention to detail
- Able to think on your feet and offer practical solutions
- A friendly, approachable personality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
