We are a family-run speciality coffee roastery, operating from a converted dairy in the Dorset countryside near Sherborne. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable, practical, and motivated Roastery / Warehouse Operative to join our small, highly focussed team.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a rural environment, takes pride in doing things properly, and wants to grow with a business over the long term.
The Role
You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of our warehouse and packing areas, working closely with the roasting and admin team to ensure wholesale, commercial, and retail orders are packed accurately and dispatched on time.
We pride ourselves on attention to detail, rapid response and the delivery of our coffee, fast and fresh, to our customers.
Key duties include:
- Packing wholesale stock, commercial orders, and retail orders for both online and walk-in customers
- Working closely with roastery and admin team to ensure a seamless dispatch of both commercial and retail orders
- Ensuring daily shipping and dispatch is handled smoothly and accurately
- Cross-checking orders against purchase orders before dispatch
- Managing stock control and inventory across:
- Roasted coffee and packaging materials
- A range of teas and hot chocolate
- Barista accessories
- Brita water filtration systems
- Commercial coffee machine spare parts and other equipment
- Preparing stock ready for regular picking and dispatch
- Working closely with couriers and delivery partners
- Operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and assisting with programming of packing equipment including weighers, sealers, labelling, and taping systems
- When required, using the company van to make local deliveries
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in warehouse, dispatch, or production environments
- Strong stock control and order management experience
- Confident with pallet handling, racking systems, pallet lifters and loaders
- Forklift licence preferred (but not essential)
- Experience dealing with couriers and shipping systems
- Mechanically capable, with the ability to maintain and troubleshoot packing equipment, including automatic weighers and vacuum loaders of various types
- Physically fit and able to lift reasonable weights (16–20kg)
- Comfortable working independently in a rural, farm based location and using initiative
- Confident and friendly when dealing with suppliers, customers, and the general public
Personal Qualities
- Tidy, highly organised, and methodical in your work
- Happy to wear company uniform (provided)
- A team player who fits well within a small, family-run business
- Willing to learn and develop while also bringing new ideas and relevant experience
- Enthusiasm for speciality coffee, tea, and coffee roasting is a real advantage
- Full UK driving licence essential
