Job Purpose
The Pre-Hire Inspection & Preparation Technician is responsible for ensuring all excavators, work boats and associated equipment are presented to the highest standard before being hired to customers. This includes carrying out thorough cleaning, mechanical inspections, basic servicing, and operational checks to ensure all equipment is safe, reliable and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
* Clean and prepare excavators, work boats and associated equipment to a high standard
* Carry out pre-hire inspections using company checklists
* Perform basic mechanical repairs and servicing, including lubrication, fluid level checks and replacement of worn components where appropriate
* Identify faults, damage or safety issues and report them to the workshop
* Conduct functional tests to ensure equipment is operating correctly before the job date
* Operate machinery safely to move, load, unload and position equipment within the yard
* Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records
* Ensure all equipment complies with company safety standards and legal requirements
* Keep the workshop and yard clean, organised and safe
* Assist with loading and unloading equipment for transport when required
* Support the workshop team with general maintenance tasks as needed
Skills & Experience
* Basic mechanical knowledge of construction plant or marine equipment
* Ability to carry out routine servicing and fault identification
* Competent in operating excavators and similar machinery
* Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication and organisational skills
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience working with excavators, plant machinery or work boats
* Full UK driving licence
* Forklift or telehandler licence (desirable)
* Basic understanding of hydraulic systems and diesel engines

Salary depending on experience.
Overtime may be available at weekends.
