We currently have immediate requirement for the following:
Senior Quality Inspector
Reporting directly to the QHSE Manager — with additional reporting to company Directors as required — the Senior Quality Inspector leads and develops the quality function within a busy machined-part environment, ensuring products consistently meet the high standards our customers expect.
The Role
You will understand quality within a busy machined-part environment and communicate quality issues clearly to the QHSE Manager, Directors and employees, helping to motivate individuals to improve their workmanship. Working knowledge of the ISO 9001 standard and management systems is important, along with the ability to read and interpret drawings. You will liaise with customers to ensure their requirements are fulfilled and work proactively as part of a team to move the quality department forward. Experience with faro arm, shadow graph and related inspection equipment is ideal.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the day-to-day running of the department, developing the team to best cope with demanding targets.
- Inspect high-quality precision machined and fabricated parts.
- Work to all company policies and procedures, including health & safety, environment and quality, and participate in any required training and risk assessments.
- Assist the QHSE Manager in promoting quality performance and improvement throughout the company.
- Work closely with the Inspection teams and QHSE Manager to ensure quality systems are adequate, implemented and audited.
- Read and interpret drawings, translating these into finished items.
- Use faro arm, shadow graph and other inspection-related equipment (ideally).
- Implement, communicate and maintain a quality plan to bring the Company’s quality systems and policies into compliance with quality system requirements.
- Interact effectively with Production and Development teams to maintain product quality from concept to supply.
- Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards and any relevant legislation.
- Ensure quality testing and procedures are properly understood and carried out.
- Maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials, components, processes and finished goods.
- Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems for QA/QC.
- Assist with product specifications of the company and its suppliers, comparing these with customer requirements.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining quality controls and documentation procedures.
- Liaise with customers, external and internal auditors, and assist with corrective action and compliance with internal and customer specifications.
- Assist with the delivery of finished products to customers as required.
- Ensure all measuring equipment across the company is maintained and calibrated to the required standards, with documentation kept up to date.
- Liaise with the Stores Supervisor to support QA requirements for raw and finished items moving through the stores.
These functions are not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake other duties befitting a senior quality role. There may be occasions when work circumstances require additional hours, including where restructures to the working week are needed. Depending on operational requirements, there may also be a need to move from this role to another, following discussion and agreement by both sides.
