Tenancy Manager (HMO / Shared Housing) — Peterborough

Freedom Homes manages 180+ shared houses (HMOs) and single lets across Peterborough, Wisbech and the East Midlands, providing high-quality accommodation for working professionals. We're an independent, owner-run business — not a corporate branch network — and we're looking for a Tenancy Manager to join our Maintenance Team.
Why this role is different
Most tenancy management jobs are 70% chasing paperwork. Ours isn't. We've automated our certificate tracking, renewal scheduling, contractor work orders and invoice processing, so you spend your time on the part of the job that actually needs a human being: looking after tenants, keeping landlords informed, and getting problems solved quickly.
You'll report directly to the directors. No area manager, no head office sign-off, no waiting a fortnight for a decision.
What you'll be doing
- Managing and overseeing tenants across our portfolio of shared houses and single lets
- Acting as the point of contact between tenants, landlords, contractors and the wider team
- Resolving tenant concerns about their tenancy and property
- Keeping tenants and landlords properly informed on works and actions
- Arranging and attending property inspections, and reporting back to landlords
- Preparing and processing tenancy deposits and associated paperwork
- Working alongside our Property Maintenance Manager day to day
- Overseeing compliance certificate renewals — Gas Safety, EICR, Legionella, EPC
What we're looking for
- Minimum 1 year in a lettings agency or property management role
- A full UK driving licence and your own vehicle (non-negotiable — this role involves regular travel)
- Confident using property management software or a CRM
- Someone who takes ownership of a problem rather than passing it along
HMO experience is a bonus, not a requirement. If you've managed single lets and want to specialise, we'll train you — it's a genuinely valuable niche and there aren't many people in this area who have it.
Hours and location
- Full time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm
- Alternate Saturdays, 10:00am – 5:00pm — with a full day off in lieu during the week, so you're never working six days
- Based at our Peterborough office
- Regular travel across the East Midlands during the week — Derby, Nottingham and Boston. Mileage is paid back in full.
