Our client is a leading and growing specialist IP and media law firm based in Central London who focuses on soft intellectual property, media and technology law and are currently ranked in the Legal 500. Representing clients across a wide range of sectors including fashion, retail, sport, gaming, TV, film and entertainment.
The firm’s litigation department specialises in soft IP dispute work in the High Court and IPEC as well as tribunal matters at the UKIPO. It works closely with the trademark team but also deals with disputes in relation to designs, copyright and passing off as well as commercial contract disputes. The department has a wide variety of work at various stages on interesting subjects.
Opportunity
We are looking for a ‘1-2 year’ PQE UK qualified solicitor with a particular interest in contentious Intellectual Property to join the firm in this period of growth.
As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and high-profile cases, gaining invaluable experience in contentious IP matters. You will collaborate with experienced solicitors and partners, developing your skills in both advisory and litigation contexts.
- Deal with soft IP disputes.
- Assist on litigation matters at all levels, from the UKIPO through to the Court of Appeal.
- Research and draft first drafts of cease and desist letters and undertakings.
- First drafts of claim forms, statement of grounds in tribunal matters, court and tribunal formsand orders as well as review of particulars of claims and defences.
- First drafts of instructions to counsel and attend conferences with counsel.
- Collect, review and organise evidence and disclosure.
- Assist in the taking and production of witness statements.
- Research and assist in advising clients of their prospects and options on a matter.
- Assist in the drafting of settlement agreements and co-existence agreements.
- Be responsible for producing bundles in physical and electronic format.
- Be responsible for the deadline diary.
Profile
- 1-2 year’s post qualification experience (although we will consider candidates outside this PQE if you can demonstrate the necessary skills and experience) in a leading UK firm.
- Experience in litigation in relation to soft IP and/or commercial disputes.
- Knowledge of the CPR rules, court rules, working on contentious matters and preferablytrademark, design and copyright law.
- Experience in domain disputes desirable.
- Strong academics.
- Commercial awareness.
- Strong organisational skills with effective time management to ensure deadlines are met.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good computer skills (including good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and an interest inAI).
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team
