Patterson Oil is a well-established, family-owned fuel distribution business with over 30 years of experience in the fuel industry. Due to continued expansion of our specialist aviation division, we are seeking an experienced, professional and safety-focused HGV Class 1 ADR Aviation Fuel Driver to join our team based at New Bridge Court, Ellesmere Port (CH65 4LX).
This is a specialist aviation fuel role involving the transportation of aviation fuel from Stanlow Terminal to Newcastle Airport, operating modern ADR tanker equipment within one of the fuel industry's most highly regulated sectors.

The Role
As an Aviation Class 1 Fuel Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, professional and efficient transportation of aviation fuel from Stanlow Terminal to Newcastle Airport, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service are maintained at all times.
This is a dedicated operation and drivers will undertake deliveries exclusively between Stanlow Terminal and Newcastle Airport.
Shift Pattern
- 4 on / 4 off shift pattern
- AM shift operation
- Start times may be as early as 2:00am and will be confirmed in advance by the operations team
- 11 hours 15 minutes guaranteed pay per shift
- Overtime paid at £22.22 per hour after the guaranteed shift length
Key Responsibilities
- Load aviation fuel at Stanlow Terminal in accordance with all terminal procedures and safety requirements
- Safely transport aviation fuel to Newcastle Airport
- Complete all loading, delivery and documentation procedures accurately
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects immediately
- Operate in full compliance with ADR regulations, drivers' hours regulations and company operating procedures
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
- Communicate effectively with the operations team regarding any delays or operational issues
- Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation
- Provide a professional service at all times while representing Patterson Oil
Essential Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
- Minimum 2 years' HGV Class 1 driving experience
- Previous fuel tanker experience is essential
- Valid ADR qualification including Class 3 Tanks
- Valid Petroleum Driver Passport (PDP) – essential
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Excellent understanding of drivers' hours and working time regulations
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
- Professional attitude and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow strict operating procedures
Desirable Experience
- Previous aviation fuel experience
- Previous terminal loading experience
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments

Due to the specialist nature of this operation, only candidates with previous fuel tanker experience and a valid Petroleum Driver Passport (PDP) will be considered.
