The Bughties Nursing Home is a part of the Enhance Healthcare company.
A traditional Tudor style building located in the quiet residential heart of Broughty Ferry. The building maintains lots of period features and enjoys extensive gardens with views over the River Tay.
We provide nursing care to 28 frail elderly residents with various physical, psychological and social needs. We provide long term care but occasionally welcome residents for periods of respite if vacancies allow.
Overview
The Activities coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a nursing home or assisted living facility. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the interests and needs of seniors, particularly those with dementia care requirements. The Activities coordinator will work closely with residents, their families, and staff to create a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction and emotional well-being.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate various recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that encourage participation and foster a sense of community.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and needs, ensuring inclusivity in all activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure that activities are suitable for residents with specific care requirements, including those needing dementia care.
- Organise special events, outings, and celebrations that enhance the overall resident experience.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continually improve the activities programme.
- Train and supervise volunteers or activity assistants to support the delivery of programmes.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with seniors and their families.
- A genuine passion for senior care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards residents' needs.
- Experience in a care home or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to plan and organise diverse activities that cater to varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is an advantage.
