Job Specification:
Technical Services is seeking a Junior Technician to support both the Testing and Certification functions of the department. This development role is ideal for someone with practical, analytical, and inquisitive mindset who wants to build a technical career. No prior experience in testing or certification is required, and the successful candidate will receive full training and day-to-day support.
Testing Support
The Junior Technician will contribute to the preparation and execution of product performance testing.
Main responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the creation of test specifications
- Supporting sample builds and installations at UK test laboratories
- Witnessing tests and reviewing test reports
- Maintaining test registers, schedules, and documentation
- Supporting improvements to data recording and technical information processes
- Providing technical support to internal and external stakeholders
- Occasional early starts and approx.one night away per month.
Certification Support
The Junior Technician will help organise and prepare technical evidence required for certification activities. This role supports experienced team members and does not involve direct communication with certification bodies.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing customer/project requirements and identifying the support information needed
- Gathering and organising relevant test evidence
- Comparing available evidence against project specifications to identify gaps
- Preparing summaries/findings for senior technical staff to action
- Helping to compile project files and documentations for certification assessments
- Supporting the development and organisation of EXAPs and documentation relating to the transition to EN-based certification
- Contributing to forward-thinking planning for future certification requirements. Full support and guidance will be provided throughout.
This is a learning role, and the successful candidate will build understanding gradually with senior oversight.
Training & Support
- Comprehensive in-house training across all areas of testing and certification
- Training primarily at Millennium Business Park, with visits to Ratcher and Longstoop Factories.
- Step-by-step guidance in understanding evidence, certification concepts, and testing standards
- Ongoing mentoring from senior department members.
