Office Administrator
S.E. Broscombe Ltd is a long-established, family-run transport and logistics company based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Established in 1915, we specialise in road freight transport, providing reliable distribution services across the UK and parts of Europe.
Our modern fleet ranges from 1.5-tonne vans to 44-tonne HGVs, including curtain-sided vehicles, flatbeds, box vans and tail-lift trucks, enabling us to meet a wide variety of customer requirements. We pride ourselves on delivering dependable service, competitive pricing and efficient operations, supported by GPS-tracked vehicles and in-cab communication systems.
We are currently looking for a motivated and organised Office Administrator to join our friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role and wants to be part of a supportive family-run business.
The Role
As an Office Administrator, you will support the day-to-day running of our busy transport office. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring all transport jobs are completed accurately and are ready for invoicing.
- Checking that customer-specific information is correctly applied to each job.
- Ensuring all relevant paperwork is attached and filed correctly.
- Assisting with the daily administration and smooth running of the business.
- Liaising with drivers and customers regarding transport jobs and queries.
- Communicating with subcontractors, issuing job information and purchase orders, and processing invoices.
- Assisting with the purchase ledger.
- Providing general administrative support to the office team.
- Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries appropriately.
- Supporting management with a variety of day-to-day office tasks.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A confident and professional telephone manner.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- The ability to remain calm and work under pressure when required.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good numerical ability with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- A friendly, professional approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Previous office or administration experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.
Job Details
- Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
- Hours: 16–32 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Flexible working hours available, including the option to work around school hours.
- Pay: From £12.71 per hour (depending on experience)
- Location: Huddersfield (office-based)
