We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Accounts Assistant to join our finance team.
This is a varied role covering day-to-day accounts administration alongside responsibility for credit control across multiple businesses. We’re looking for someone who is confident working with numbers, has strong attention to detail and is comfortable taking ownership of tasks through to completion.
The ideal candidate will already have experience working within an accounts or finance environment and will be confident using accounting software such as Zoho Books, Sage 50, Xero or similar.
Key Responsibilities
As Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing credit control and proactively chasing outstanding customer balances
- Contacting customers professionally by telephone and email regarding overdue accounts, contracts and payment queries
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date debtor records
- Monitoring aged debt and identifying accounts requiring further action
- Processing and allocating customer payments
- Processing supplier invoices and bills
- Supporting the maintenance of sales and purchase ledgers
- Carrying out bank reconciliations
- Investigating and resolving account discrepancies
- Maintaining accurate financial records across multiple companies and legal entities
- Assisting with general finance and accounts administration
- Supporting the wider finance team with month-end and other accounting activities as required
- Identifying discrepancies or process issues and helping to improve internal finance procedures
Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Credit Controller or similar finance-based role
- Strong practical experience of credit control and debt collection
- Experience using accounting systems such as Zoho Books, Sage 50, Xero or similar
- A good understanding of sales and purchase ledgers
- Experience processing and allocating invoices, bills and payments
- Experience completing bank reconciliations
- Experience working with accounts across multiple companies would be highly advantageous
- Strong numerical skills and confidence working with financial data
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills

Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
