We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer to join our busy in house production team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for print publishing. You’ll be producing high quality advertisements and editorial layouts in a fast paced environment where accuracy, organisation and meeting deadlines are just as important as creativity.
If your background is primarily social media graphics, branding or web design, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.
The Role
Working closely with our sales, editorial and production teams, you will be responsible for creating engaging, press ready artwork across our portfolio of monthly magazines and associated marketing material.
Key Responsibilities
- Design high quality advertisements for a wide variety of local businesses
- Create engaging editorial layouts for our monthly magazines
- Prepare artwork for commercial print, ensuring all specifications are met
- Produce accurate press ready PDFs
- Work from client briefs while offering creative design solutions
- Amend artwork quickly and accurately
- Develop and improve design templates
- Maintain consistency across all magazine titles and marketing material
- Select suitable imagery while ensuring compliance with copyright and advertising standards
- Proof and quality check your own work before publication
- Manage multiple live projects while consistently meeting strict production deadlines
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ commercial graphic design experience
- Previous experience within the magazine, newspaper or print publishing industry is strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign is essential
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
- Excellent typography and editorial layout skills
- Thorough understanding of print production including bleed, colour profiles and press ready artwork
- Excellent English grammar, spelling and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise work in a deadline driven environment
- A positive attitude with excellent communication skills
- Professional, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a close knit team
Desirable
- Adobe Illustrator experience
- Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Experience designing newspapers or magazines
- Basic photography or image editing skills

Office Based Role
This is a full time office based position in Hemel Hempstead (HP3). Remote or hybrid working is not available.
