School Mini Bus Driver
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Contract Type: Term-time plus
Probation: Reviews at 1, 2, 4, and 6 months during the first year.
Hours: Minimum 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a split-shift basis:
- Morning route: Approximately 6:00am – 8:45am
- Afternoon route: Approximately 3:45pm – 6:00pm
Pay: Hourly Rate: £13.84 per hour

Safeguarding & Compliance
The successful candidate must:
- Complete all required safeguarding and mandatory training.
- Undergo reference checks and an enhanced DBS check.
- Follow all child protection, confidentiality, and data protection policies.
Role Overview
The Mini Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting pupils to and from school, maintaining the vehicle, recording attendance, and supporting the Facilities Team when required.
Key ResponsibilitiesDriving Duties
- Safely transport pupils on scheduled routes.
- Ensure pupils board and exit the vehicle safely.
- Check seatbelts are worn before departure.
- Follow all transport policies and procedures.
- Communicate delays or issues to the school and parents when necessary.
Vehicle Checks & Maintenance
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and record findings.
- Monitor fuel levels and refuel when required.
- Keep the vehicle clean inside and out.
- Ensure tracking devices, phones, and dash cams are operational.
- Assist with vehicle servicing, MOTs, and compliance checks.
Additional Services
- Support occasional trips for sports fixtures, airport transfers, educational visits, and other events.
- Attend departmental meetings as required.
Health & Safety
- Follow all health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
- Use equipment and materials safely and appropriately.
Essential Requirements
- Current PSV Licence.
- Up-to-date CPC qualification.
- Previous bus driving experience.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Reliable, professional, and punctual.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
