Responsibilities
- Assist students boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring proper safety procedures are followed at all times
- Support students with special needs or those requiring additional assistance during transit
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe vehicle environment, including light cleaning and routine checks
- Monitor student behavior during trips, applying behavior management techniques to promote a respectful atmosphere
- Ensure adherence to traffic laws and safety regulations while driving or assisting with transportation routes
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and colleagues regarding student needs or incidents
- Assist with loading and unloading of mobility aids or equipment as needed, including heavy lifting when necessary
Experience
- Previous experience working with children or in caregiving roles such as childcare, assisted living, or home care is highly valued
- Familiarity with patient care practices or senior care environments enhances your ability to support students with diverse needs
- Experience in transportation roles or driving responsibilities is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures ensures safety during transit
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as heavy lifting and meal preparation supports comprehensive student care
- Demonstrated skills in behavior management and medication administration are advantageous for supporting students with special requirements
