About the role:
To deputise for the Branch Manager to cover Holidays, Absence and other events as required.
To replace and repair both in branch and mobile all types of automotive glass including related products efficiently and effectively to all types of vehicles, both commercial and domestic.
To assist with office administration tasks, including stock management, arranging customer appointments and any ad hoc tasks provided by management.
To learn and understand the companies IT systems relevant to the administration tasks you undertake.
To positively promote yourself, your van (if applicable) and your branch in a professional manner on behalf of the Company and National Windscreens.
To achieve and maintain standards of workmanship and performance in accordance with the Company’s training requirements and grading system.
To demonstrate pride in your work and to ensure the job is right first time, thereby satisfying customer requirements and minimising remedial work.
You will hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification, or equivalent, in Automotive Glazing.
Customer Service:
- To communicate with customers in a polite, respectful and professional manner at all times.
- Follow the Company’s meet and greet procedure.
- Ensure all technicians’ procedures are adhered to as set out in section 9 of the Company’s procedures manual.
- Ensure all other sections within the Company’s procedures manual are adhered to relevant to the task you are undertaking.
Quality, Safety and Risk Assessment:
- To comply at all times with the standards required by the Company’s ISO quality accreditation.
- To adhere to, understand and be fully conversant with the Company’s Health and Safety policy and to assume a duty of care for yourself, your work colleagues and the general public.
- Adherence to customer Health and Safety working on site regulations.
- You will have been supplied with a company uniform, which must be kept in a clean and presentable condition and worn at all times.
- All personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times without exception.
- It is your duty to report any infringements of quality or safety to the Company’s Quality, Safety and Training Manager.
- To complete job/environment risk assessment prior to commencement of the task to ensure that your safety and the safety of the vehicle are not compromised.
Vehicle Inspection:
- Prior to commencement of your task ensure that the vehicle you are attending is checked in the presence of the vehicle owner, or some other responsible person (pre-inspection) and any damage is recorded and agreed as pre-existing on your defect report document.
- On completion ensure that the vehicle is re-checked (post-inspection) and any damage incurred as a result of the task you have carried out is recorded on your defect report and agreed with the customer prior to informing your branch manager.
Completing windscreen, body glass replacement or repair:
- Carry out tasks in accordance with appropriate training and guidelines as required through company policy and procedure.
- You are required to be fully conversant with the company’s policies in respect of car care, cold weather and bonding procedures, or any other procedures that may be introduced.
- Utilise appropriate tools as authorised by the Company.
- Check working parts ie: wipers and sensors are in working order before removal.
- Ensure all parts are removed, stored safely and replaced carefully.
- Re-check parts ie: wipers and sensors are in working order before leaving the job.
Administration:
- To accurately complete all documentation relevant to your job or task.
- You are responsible for collecting cash when necessary from customers and you are required to hand in all cash at the earliest opportunity to your branch manager/assistant branch manager and to sign for the transfer.
- You must follow the company’s cash handling procedure.
- You are responsible for ensuring that should your customer wish to pay by credit/debit card, that you either take the payment if you have a PDQ machine to hand, or alternatively, connect the customer to the branch for payment to be taken.
- Ensure open communication regarding all office administration you may undertake.
Flexibility:
- You will be required to join the ‘call out’ rota applicable to the branch you are working from, and numbers of technicians’ employed at that branch will determine the actual rota together with consideration of administration tasks that you have been assigned.
- You may be required to work beyond your normal working hours at short notice due to the nature of the role and the expectations of customer needs.
- You are required to ensure that less experienced technicians or technician assistants’, who may, from time to time be under your supervision, follow all company procedures as necessary and follow trainers’ guidelines.
