Lochee Community Larder & Café SCIO is a registered Scottish charity dedicated to tackling food poverty, reducing social isolation and supporting our local community. Through our Community Larder, Café and volunteer programme, we provide practical support to hundreds of people each week while creating opportunities for individuals to gain confidence, develop new skills and become active members of their community.
As our charity continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and compassionate Volunteer Coordinator to lead and develop our volunteer programme.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines volunteer management with practical operational support. A fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension.
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, supporting and developing our volunteers, ensuring they have a positive and rewarding experience while helping us deliver vital services to the community.
You will also help support our young volunteers, promote volunteer wellbeing, maintain volunteer records and assist in developing training opportunities that allow volunteers to grow in confidence and skills.
As a small community charity, no two days are the same. You will represent the charity at community events, recruitment sessions and meetings, while also being prepared to assist with day-to-day operations whenever required.
Lead from the front by working alongside volunteers and staff, supporting the day-to-day operation of the charity whenever required.
You will report directly to the Board of Trustees and work closely with staff, volunteers and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview and onboard new volunteers.
- Deliver volunteer inductions and ongoing support.
- Coordinate volunteer rotas and placements.
- Support, mentor and motivate volunteers throughout their volunteering journey.
- Assist in supervising and supporting young volunteers.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation.
- Assist in developing and coordinating volunteer training and development opportunities.
- Promote volunteer wellbeing and recognise volunteer achievements.
- Represent the charity at community events, recruitment events and partnership meetings.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment campaigns.
- Provide practical support within the Community Larder and Café when required.
- Assist with collections or deliveries during periods of staff shortages.
- Attend occasional evening or weekend meetings and events where required.
- Ensure volunteering activities are delivered safely and in line with organisational policies and procedures.

Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Volunteer management.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Community or charity organisations.
- Supporting young people or volunteers.
- Customer service or people-focused roles.
A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
