The Orchard Nature Nursery Limited are looking for a practical, reliable, and friendly Maintenance Person to join our team and help keep our nursery environment looking its best.
This is a flexible part-time role of approximately 40 hours per month. We’re happy to work around your availability, and many tasks can be completed outside nursery opening hours if that suits you better.
As our Maintenance Person, you'll play an important part in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained space where children can learn, explore, and grow. Working alongside the nursery management team, you'll help tackle ongoing maintenance tasks, carry out repairs, help us achieve fun projects such as building simple structures for our garden and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out routine maintenance checks to help keep our nursery safe, secure, and child-friendly.
- Completing minor repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Refreshing decor indoor and outdoor spaces as needed.
- Responding promptly to maintenance issues and finding practical solutions.
- Keeping tools, equipment, and materials organised and letting us know when supplies need replenishing.
- Supporting the upkeep of our outdoor nature-based learning environment.
- Following health and safety procedures and helping us maintain a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience in general maintenance, repairs, or a similar hands-on role.
- Has knowledge of basic plumbing and general building maintenance.
- Can work independently and manage their time effectively.
- Enjoys solving problems and takes pride in a job well done.
- Has a good eye for detail and a strong commitment to safety.
- Is willing to undertake relevant training, such as PAT Testing.
- Understands the importance of child safety
