Temporary Creative Worker – Hindu Religious Sculptor (6-Month Fixed-Term Engagement)Purpose of the Role.
To design, carve and complete traditional Hindu religious sculptures for installation in temples and cultural centres in the United Kingdom. The role is a specialist artistic engagement requiring advanced knowledge of Hindu iconography, Shilpa Shastra, and traditional Indian sculptural techniques, contributing to the UK's cultural and religious heritage.
Key Duties
- Design and sculpt sacred Hindu deities and religious figures in accordance with traditional Shilpa Shastra principles.
- Produce commissioned temple idols, relief sculptures, and ceremonial artworks.
- Carve sculptures from stone, wood, metal or other traditional materials using recognised artistic techniques.
- Work with temple trustees, priests and architects to ensure religious accuracy and artistic authenticity.
- Restore and complete unfinished sacred sculptures where required.
- Participate in cultural workshops and demonstrations showcasing traditional Hindu sculptural heritage.
- Assist with the installation of completed sculptures for consecration ceremonies.
- Maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and artistic excellence throughout the engagement.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable professional experience in traditional Hindu religious sculpture.
- Advanced knowledge of Hindu iconography and temple art.
- Portfolio of completed temple sculptures or religious commissions.
- Ability to produce authentic sacred artworks using traditional methods.
Contract
Fixed-term appointment for six months under a temporary creative engagement for the completion of specific commissioned religious artworks.
Pay: £24,420.00-£40,012.19 per year
