Trade Plate Driver / Vehicle Collection & Delivery Driver
About SKV Motors
SKV Motors is a growing independent used-car dealership based in Romford. We stock a wide range of vehicles, including prestige, performance and family cars, and are looking for a reliable Trade Plate Driver to support our expanding operation.
The Role
You will be responsible for collecting and delivering vehicles by driving them individually under SKV Motors’ trade plates. This is not a vehicle transporter or HGV position.
You may travel by public transport or with another member of the team to reach a collection point before driving the vehicle back to our dealership. Collections will be from auctions, dealerships, private sellers and other locations across the UK.
Most journeys will be within approximately 150 miles, although longer-distance collections may occasionally be required. There will typically be one or two vehicle movements per day, depending on distance and travel time.
Main Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver vehicles safely and professionally using company trade plates.
- Travel to auctions, dealerships, private sellers and customer addresses.
- Inspect vehicles thoroughly before accepting or driving them.
- Check the vehicle’s registration, VIN, mileage, keys and documentation.
- Check for warning lights, visible damage, tyre condition and obvious mechanical issues.
- Take clear photographs and videos of the vehicle at the point of collection.
- Report any damage, faults or differences from the vehicle description before leaving.
- Obtain authorisation from management before accepting a vehicle with undisclosed issues.
- Fit, display and remove trade plates correctly and keep them secure at all times.
- Complete collection, delivery and handover paperwork accurately.
- Keep management updated throughout each journey.
- Collect and retain receipts for fuel, travel and other authorised expenses.
- Deliver vehicles for MOTs, servicing, repairs, valeting or preparation when required.
- Move vehicles between dealership locations and storage facilities.
- Treat every vehicle with care, including prestige and high-performance models.
- Represent SKV Motors professionally when dealing with customers, sellers, auction staff and suppliers.
- Follow all company procedures, road traffic laws and motor-trade insurance requirements.
Requirements
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Confident driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
- A safe and responsible driving record; all penalty points must be declared.
- Must meet the requirements of the company’s motor-trade insurance policy.
- Experience driving a wide range of vehicles.
- Good knowledge of UK roads and confidence travelling long distances.
- Comfortable using trains, buses and other public transport to reach collection locations.
- Able to carry out basic vehicle condition checks.
- Comfortable using a smartphone to take photographs, complete reports and communicate with the team.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Flexible regarding journey times, early starts and occasional late finishes.
- Previous trade plate, vehicle collection, dealership, auction or motor-trade experience is preferred but not essential.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone trustworthy and dependable who understands that they will be responsible for valuable vehicles and company trade plates. The successful candidate will take pride in inspecting vehicles carefully, reporting problems honestly and completing every journey safely.
This role would suit an experienced trade plate driver, dealership driver, auction driver or vehicle collection and delivery driver.
