Job Summary
You will work on a varied range of development infrastructure projects, taking designs from initial feasibility and planning stages through to detailed design, technical approval and construction.
You will work closely with the Director and will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to both project delivery and the continued development of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare drainage strategies, technical assessments and supporting engineering reports.
- Design foul and surface water drainage systems, including SuDS, attenuation, flow controls and pumping arrangements where required.
- Undertake hydraulic drainage modelling using Causeway Flow or equivalent software.
- Prepare highway, site access, visibility splay, vehicle tracking and external levels designs.
- Produce clear and accurate drawings using AutoCAD.
- Assist with detailed designs for adoption or approval under Sections 38, 104, 184 and 278, where applicable.
- Review topographical surveys, utility records, ground investigation information and third-party design information.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, schedules and construction information.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, statutory undertakers, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Highway Authorities and water companies.
- Respond to technical review comments and progress designs through the relevant approval processes.
- Manage your own workload, project deadlines and allocated budgets.
- Attend site visits and project meetings when required.
- Support the development of company standards, procedures and junior staff as the business grows.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience in civil engineering design, preferably within development infrastructure.
- Experience designing foul and surface water drainage systems.
- A sound understanding of SuDS principles and current UK drainage standards.
- Competence in AutoCAD.
- Ability to interpret topographical surveys, drainage records, utility information and architectural layouts.
- Ability to produce clear technical drawings, calculations and written reports.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- A relevant civil engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable Experience
- Proficiency in Causeway Flow.
- Experience using Civil 3D, Site3D or similar civil engineering design software.
- Experience preparing drainage strategies, flood risk assessments or SuDS submissions.
- Knowledge of the Design and Construction Guidance, Building Regulations Part H, Manual for Streets and relevant CIRIA guidance.
- Experience with Section 104, Section 38 and Section 278 submissions.
- Experience in highway design, external levels design and vehicle swept path analysis.
- Experience liaising with drainage authorities, highway authorities and Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA).
- A full UK driving licence.

Pay: £26,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
