Roys is one of the UK's largest independent retailers, operating supermarkets, department stores, garden centres, DIY stores, variety stores, a petrol filling station and a toy shop across Norfolk and Suffolk and is a family run retail business.
Based in Wroxham, and reporting to the Buying Director, we are looking for an experienced Buyer with a retail background, to create and support commercial ranges to meet the market needs we serve.
About the Role
This is a new opportunity for a retail buyer to take ownership of exciting product categories, where your decisions will have a visible impact on our stores and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- You will have responsibility for developing profitable ranges and managing supplier relationships within your product categories using insights derived from range performance data.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and consumer buying behaviour to identify new product opportunities.
- Review sales performance data and use insights to make informed buying decisions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Manage KPIs, such as Sales, profits, availability and stock levels.
- Category responsibility will reflect the successful candidate's experience.
- Work closely with internal teams, including Store Leadership, Marketing and Logistics, to support product launches, promotional campaigns and strategies to maximise sales and margins.
- Stay informed of industry developments and emerging trends to maintain a competitive product range.
About You
- Previous buying experience within a multi-site retail business is desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify profitable product opportunities.
- Excellent analytical skills and confidence working with sales data and reports.
- Proven negotiation skills with the ability to build effective supplier relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office with a proficiency in Excel is essential.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- As occasional UK supplier visits and attendance at trade shows will be required, a valid driving licence for the UK is essential.

This role is a permanent position, 39 per week, Monday to Friday with an occasional requirement to attend weekend trade shows. Salary available on application.
