Express Foodservice is a fast growing food wholesaler supplying takeaways, restaurants, schools and foodservice businesses across the South of England.
We are looking for an organised, driven and hands on Manager to lead and develop our telesales team while helping drive sales growth across the business.
This is a varied role with responsibility increasing in phases. We want the successful candidate to properly understand our customers, systems and telesales operation before taking on the full management responsibilities of the position.
This is very much a hands on role. Even once fully established as Manager, you will still be expected to support the telesales team directly during busy periods, holidays or when additional cover is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and supporting the telesales team on a daily basis.
- Working directly within telesales during the initial phase to develop a strong understanding of our customers and operation.
- Supporting telesales directly during busy periods, staff holidays or when additional cover is required.
- Monitoring customer interactions and identifying missed sales opportunities.
- Setting and reviewing daily telesales targets and call lists.
- Driving category sales growth through promotions, upselling and special pricing.
- Reviewing lost customers and helping win business back.
- Supporting and developing underperforming customer accounts.
- Monitoring sales orders and ensuring key product categories are being promoted.
- Managing customer service related issues and supporting the telesales team with escalated customer queries where required.
- Overseeing new customer onboarding and ensuring customers are properly supported from day one.
- Reviewing weekly and monthly sales performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Producing and reviewing reports to monitor customer, salesperson and category performance.
- Coaching, motivating and developing members of the telesales team.
- Managing staff holiday requests and supporting team planning as the role develops.
- Creating and running sales incentives and commission based competitions to encourage performance and make sales targets engaging.
- Maintaining a positive and motivated team environment.
- Organising morale-boosting activities for the team, whether that is bringing in food or snacks, arranging team meals or organising occasional team-building activities.
- Looking for new ideas to improve team engagement, performance and customer retention.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous management or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience within the foodservice or wholesale sector preferred, but not essential.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate, coach and manage a team in a fast paced environment.
- Commercial mindset with a strong focus on sales growth and customer retention.
- Confident working with sales data, reports and performance figures.
- Comfortable setting targets and holding people accountable for performance.
- Positive personality with the ability to create enthusiasm within a team.
- Someone who is happy to pick up the phone and work alongside the team when needed.
- Hands on approach with a willingness to support the wider team when required.
- Someone who is happy to learn the operation properly before progressively taking on greater management responsibility.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being involved in the day to day operation rather than managing from a distance. We are looking for somebody who can combine sales performance, people management and team motivation, while remaining willing to get involved personally when the team needs support.
