Introduction:
Jigsaw Bespoke Joinery is seeking an experienced Bench Joiner to join our skilled team at our Leicester workshop. We specialise in high-quality, bespoke joinery for interior fitouts, as well as shopfitting manufacturing for the retail and cosmetic industry. We’re looking for a reliable and motivated individual to help us deliver craftsmanship of the highest standard. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who takes pride in precision joinery, works well in a team, and is confident with both traditional and modern tools. You’ll be assembling a variety of custom items including fitted counters and joinery sets - playing a key role in bringing our projects to life.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assemble high-quality joinery products including fitted counters, solid surfaces, back fixtures, door sets, and custom furniture.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and plans to ensure precise construction and finish.
- Select and prepare appropriate timber and materials, taking grain, quality, and finish into account.
- Operate a range of woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, routers, and sanders safely and efficiently.
- Carry out quality checks on completed work to ensure craftsmanship meets required standards and specifications.
- Work collaboratively with workshop colleagues and project managers to ensure smooth workflow and accurate project execution.
- Contribute to daily tasks such as handling materials, assisting with deliveries, and keeping the workshop running smoothly.
- Maintain tools and machinery through regular upkeep and promptly report any faults or issues.
- Proactively solve problems and make on-the-spot decisions to overcome manufacturing or fit-out challenges.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following health and safety guidelines at all times.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Joinery (Required).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Carpentry (Preferred).
- Strong proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift and handle materials safely and efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or equivalent).
- City & Guilds Certification in Bench Joinery or Site Carpentry (or equivalent)
- Manual Handling Certification – desirable.
- First Aid at Work – an advantage.
- Valid UK driving licence – preferred but not essential.
