Housing Management Officer
Step Forward Hyndburn
37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, typically between 8am–6pm)
SCP 21 – 25 (£27,261 - £30,308)
Work with individuals to secure stable futures and sustain their homes.
At Stepping Stone Projects, we do more than provide accommodation—we empower people to move on from homelessness and live independently. Our work is fast-paced and rewarding, and we’re looking for a Housing Management Officer to join our Step Forward Hyndburn service and make a meaningful impact.
About the role
You’ll deliver a high-quality housing management and support service within a 12-bedroom supported accommodation scheme for males aged 18+ with low to medium support needs.
Working across the service and alongside colleagues across East Lancashire, you’ll take a proactive approach to tenancy management, customer support, and property standards—ensuring a safe, stable environment where people can rebuild their lives and move towards independence.
What you’ll be doing
-
Completing needs and risk assessments, and developing person-centred support plans through regular linkwork sessions
-
Supporting customers to access and maintain Housing Benefit and other entitlements, ensuring payments remain in place
-
Carrying out property inspections, welfare checks, and health & safety tasks including fire alarm testing and arranging PAT testing
-
Delivering customer-focused support, including involvement activities and signposting to external agencies
-
Working collaboratively with local authorities, partner organisations, and internal teams, including attending regular meetings
-
Managing housing-related duties such as service charge collection, void turnaround coordination, and maintaining compliance standards
-
Recording accurate information, liaising with managers, and supporting colleagues across services when required
About you
You’ll be confident, organised, and passionate about supporting people to succeed. You’re comfortable balancing a people-focused role with the practical demands of housing management.
We’re particularly keen to hear from you if:
-
You have experience in providing housing management, housing related support, care and support, or housing advice in any of the following fields: housing management, supported housing, housing advice work, youth and community work or other work supporting homeless people.
-
You have experience in delivering/supporting positive outcomes for clients through the delivery of effective resettlement and independence plans
-
You have the ability to develop effective working relationships and rapport with clients and colleagues.
-
You have working knowledge of housing management and/or housing related support
-
You have awareness of health and safety / personal safety issues in a housing management/supported accommodation context and in lone working
-
You have the ability to use own initiative
Why join us?
At Stepping Stone Projects, you will contribute to delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will be part of a supportive, values-led organisation where your work plays a key role in enabling people to achieve stability and independence.
