Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, accurately assessing vehicle condition and issuing certification.
- Diagnose mechanical problems using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to identify issues efficiently.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicle systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, and engines.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to carry out repairs, replacements, and adjustments.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks involving engine components or vehicle parts, ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and test results for each vehicle serviced.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations while delivering high-quality service in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience working on a range of vehicles.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools confidently and safely.
- Physical strength to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly without compromising safety or quality.
- Previous experience conducting MOT tests or working as a qualified mechanic is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers or team members.
- Valid certification or licensing for MOT testing (if applicable), along with relevant mechanic qualifications.
